Newton Bhabha PhD Placements Programme | Study in India

The British Council provides funding for eligible UK PhD students to spend 2 – 4 months in India Studies, and covers the costs of flights, insurance and visas.

The programme aims to:

•Develop individual capacity through international training and development opportunities
•Increase the number of highly trained researchers in the UK and India with international experience, able to contribute to the absorptive capacity for research and innovation and thus bring about economic and social benefits
•Build cultural understanding, and foster long-term sustainable research collaborations
•Develop international joint training pathways
•Increase awareness of the research strengths of the UK and India

Eligibility

In the UK, the scheme is open only for UK scholars pursuing their PhD at a UK higher education institution.

Making Progress Workshop for Part-time researchers

If you’re a part-time researcher in the mid stages of your research degree, join The Open University, Milton Keynes, for a dedicated one-day workshop.

Monday 19 June 2017, 09.30 – 16.30

By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • Recognised the progress you have made in relation to your overall project
  • begun to define and refine your research hypothesis and your thesis structure
  • understood the requirements of the part-time PhD, including the assessment criteria
  • reviewed how you manage your part-time PhD
  • developed a short- to mid-term action plan to help you successfully complete your thesis on a part-time basis.

Refreshments and lunch vouchers for the Hub canteen will be provided.
